LEDPiPE.Studio Concept
It all started in the spring of 2019 on a routine trip to a local hardware store.
I had already seen a lot of great examples of steampunk, industrial and just plain wacky custom built lamps. So, when I passed by the pipes and fittings aisle, an idea was born. I wanted to build a pipe robot lamp.
I had no idea exactly what I needed, or indeed what it would end up looking like. So I just got a bunch of fairly random pipe fittings and went home.
Started out pretty slow, discovered I needed some specific parts to put it all together, so the next day I was back at the hardware store. And again. And again…
I started to look for interesting light bulbs to incorporate into my design and I found the wacky rotating bulb the went on it’s head.
Bit by bit it all started to come together. I used some items I had around the house, got into the power tools, got all the electrics together, so the PipeMan was born! The pipe and torch light up and the head spins and projects round red, green and blue lights all around, great show!
Soon I started to try out other ideas; got more parts [new and old, the recycling and upcycling side of the project is very important], and started to create new pieces.
As I went on, I made sure all the pieces are unique. All my creations are one of a kind – some of them include objects I may never find again, so I won’t be able to recreate them. This would clearly be a good way to make sure the finished pieces are indeed unique.
After I got a few pieces together I decided I would build the idea into a brand, so LEDPiPE.Studio was born. Creating unique, functional art for everyone!
As time goes on I will be adding more and more creations. There’s no shortage of ideas and I’m sure I’ll find the right parts. If not, I’ll make them!
